I became autonomo in Spain eight years ago.

I made every mistake. I registered with the wrong epigrafe IAE. I paid full social security contributions for almost two years before someone mentioned tarifa plana existed. I missed deductions I could have claimed from day one. Not because I was careless. Because nobody told me.

Every time I had a question, I found either a law firm trying to sell me their services or a government page written for civil servants, not people. Clear answers were almost impossible to find.

So I built this site.

What This Is

A resource for people who are self-employed in Spain, or thinking about becoming self-employed. Written in plain language. No legal jargon without explanation. No services to sell.

A Note on Accuracy

Spain’s tax rules and social security contributions change regularly. I update articles when the rules change. Every article notes the year it was last reviewed.
